Prince of Post!Back to the label maker

Privacy policy

Effective from

Royal Mail QR codes carry the recipient's name and address, so Prince of Post is built to keep them on your device. This page explains exactly where your information goes, which is almost nowhere.

The short version

On the website

When you choose a QR code, code running in your browser reads it and builds the label PDF there too. The file, what's in it and the finished label never leave your device, unless you download, print or share them yourself.

In ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants

If you add Prince of Post to an AI assistant as a connector (our server at https://princeofpost.com/mcp), there are two ways your QR code can reach the label:

Everything in your conversation, including our reply, is handled by the assistant's provider (for example OpenAI or Anthropic) under its own privacy policy, as is anything else you share in the chat.

A link that opens a label, such as the one behind “Open to print”, carries the QR text after #qr= in the address. Browsers never send the part after # to any server, ours included. As soon as the page opens it takes the text, removes it from the address bar and builds the label in your browser, before our analytics and error reporting start.

The link itself stays wherever it came from, such as the chat or your browser history, and anyone who has it can see the name and address inside. Treat it like the QR code itself.

AI agents in your browser

If your browser has a built-in AI agent that supports WebMCP, princeofpost.com offers it tools to load, check, print and download your label. Whatever the agent reads back, such as the tracking number, postcode and post-by date, goes to that agent's provider under its own privacy policy.

Analytics

We count visits with Umami Cloud, which uses no cookies and doesn't follow you across other sites. It records the page address (never the part after #), the site that sent you, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and approximate location, and events such as “a QR code was read” or “a label was printed”. Events carry only non-identifying details, like the label type, where the QR code came from (an image, a PDF, a link or an AI agent) or the type of a file we couldn't read.

Analytics never include QR contents, names, addresses or file names.

Error reports

If reading a QR code or making a label goes wrong, or the site hits a bug, a report goes to Sentry so we can fix it. It says which step failed and what kind of error it was, with your browser, device and the page address (never the part after #), and the type and size of the file if one was involved. For a QR code we don't recognise, it describes only its shape: how long it is, the names of the fields inside and the label type, never their values.

Error reports never include QR contents, names, addresses or file names.

Feedback form

The feedback form sends the topic you pick and the message you type to Formspree, which passes it on to us by email. We don't ask for your name or email address, so please leave out personal details and anyone's address. We keep messages only while they're useful, and we'll delete yours if you ask.

Hosting and the services we use

Cloudflare hosts princeofpost.com and runs our connector. Like any web host, it handles your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Our own code doesn't log your requests or anything you send.

Your browser's connections to Umami, Sentry and Formspree include your IP address too, as every web request does. Each of them handles it under its own privacy policy.

Cookies

Prince of Post doesn't set any cookies or store anything on your device.

Keeping and deleting your data

We don't store QR codes, labels, names or addresses, so there's nothing of yours for us to look up or delete. Analytics are anonymous counts, and Umami, Sentry and Formspree keep their records for their standard periods. Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you or ask us to delete it, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its effective date. The terms of use cover everything else about using Prince of Post.
